Normal cereal muesli contains - unlike our Pro PSSM - a high level of carbohydrates (starch), which this "metabolizes" into glucose (sugar). For lightly fed horses, or for horses fed too much concentrated feed for work, this will result in acidification of the body's cells.

- Glucose intolerance and insulin resistance

- Laminitis, lumbago syndrome, Cushing's syndrome, PSSM and EMS Horses suffering, for example, from a carbohydrate storage disease called "PSSM" (Polysaccharide Storage Myophathy) have a chronic metabolic problem, also known as diabetes.

This disease can be hereditary in certain breeds of horse. Horses appear immobile, stiff and lacking in energy. A muscle biopsy is necessary to determine the degree of the disease in the right way. In the Marstall "PRO PSSM" recipe, we have reduced carbohydrates (starch/sugar) to a minimum. Most of the ingredients provide vegetable oils and fats as a source of energy in this concentrated food. With this, we deprive this insidious disease "food base" and perform an active cause control. Composition Alfalfa, Dried beet pulp, Cereal straw, Sunflower seed, Soya bean gut extraction, Soya bean oil, Linseed, Sugar beet molasses, Spelt husk, Wheat bran, Mixture of milling by-products, Magnesium oxide Feeding recommendation Feeding recommendation as sole supplementary feed or in combination with marstall Force for horses working at medium level (Calculation page 75 (Force)) Small horse/pony approx. 150 g per 100 kg bodyweight/day Thoroughbred / Half-blood approx. 400 g per 100 kg bodyweight/day Example of daily ration for a horse of 550 kg bodyweight ... as supplementary feed with 50 g marstall Force in hay Without / Light work approx. 1.0 to 1.8 kg Medium work approx. 2.0 to 3.0 kg Feeding instructions All feed quantities mentioned are available over the course of the day, divided into several small rations.
