Removal by rotation avoids crushing the tick or leaving its head in the skin. This reduces the risk of inflammation, infection and transmission of pathogens (Lyme disease, tick-borne encephalitis, piroplasmosis, among others).
These tweezers can be stored in any stable medicine kit. The set of 3 means you can keep one in the stable, one at home and one as a back-up.
One thing to check before use: that the hook size matches that of the tick to be removed, otherwise you risk crushing it or not gripping it properly.
Important: remove the tick by turning, never by pulling. A tick's head is bristling with small spikes that lock into the skin as soon as they are pulled, which can cause the tick to break off, leading to inflammation or infection.
When turned, these spikes are brought back along the axis of rotation: the tick detaches itself, limiting the risk of breaking the head and the associated infectious risks.
This product does not replace veterinary advice in the event of skin reaction, fever or unusual symptoms following tick removal.
