ESC LABORATOIRE Lithothamnion
Lithothamnion is a calcareous seaweed which has the particularity of capturing the minerals contained in sea water in ionised form.
Lithothamnion is purplish red in colour. It is found on the Atlantic coast, particularly in Brittany, but also in the Mediterranean at depths of 15 to 20 cm.
Components: minerals (calcium, sodium, magnesium, iodine, iron, manganese, silica...), amino acids, vitamin C, aspartic and glutamic acid, alginates.
Lithothamnion, an algae source of minerals recommended for tired or deficient horses: Lithothamnion is an oceanic seaweed that is a source of easily assimilated calcium and magnesium.
Lithothamnion is useful in the case of deficient rations or demineralisation.
This seaweed is also recommended in case of gastric acidity.
The minerals and trace elements crystallize once the seaweed is harvested.
This makes it an excellent alkaline source.
For this reason, lithothamnion is composed of 33% calcium carbonate.
